Tuesday Try A New Taste – Earth Eggs

Earth eggs taste great! Magical Attributes: Health, grounding, connection to nature, Earth Magic. Celebrations: Earth day, Spring Equinox, Sealing the Frost, Binding of the Hearths, Festival of Durga, Saturnalia, Planting Festival, and the Festival of Ishtar.

Ingredients:

• 1 pound lean ground beef
• 1 small onion, minced
• 2/3 cup seasoned bread crumbs
• 1/4 cup milk
• 1 teaspoon of salt
• 1/2 teaspoon garlic powder
• 1/2 teaspoon onion powder
• 6 hard boiled eggs peeled
• 1 egg beaten
• vegetable oil for frying
• 2 tablespoons of Worcestershire sauce
• 1/4 cup Ketchup

Mix the ground beef, onion, 1/3 cup of the bread crumbs, milk, salt, garlic powder, and the onion powder. Divide into six equal portions. Form each portion over a hard-boiled egg so that the egg is completely covered. Dip in the beaten egg; roll in the remaining bread crumbs. Fry the eggs in the oil over medium heat, turning frequently, until the meat is completely cooked and the crumbs are golden brown. Remove from the pan; slice in halves or thirds lengthwise. Pour off the remaining oil in the frying pan. Mix the Worcestershire sauce and ketchup in the frying pan; heat. Return the eggs to the frying pan for 2 or 3 minutes. Turning frequently until eggs are well coated. Yield 6 servings

Monday Make A – Natural Egg (or anything really…) Dyes

Natural Egg Dyes

To dye the perfect eggs the natural way, here's what to do:

1. Put eggs in a single layer in a pan. Pour water in pan until the eggs are covered.
2. Add about a teaspoon of vinegar.
3. Add the natural dye appropriate to the color you want your eggs to be. (The more eggs you are dying at a time, the more dye you will need to use.)
4. Bring water to a boil, then reduce heat and simmer for 15
minutes.
5. Remove the substance you used to color the eggs. Put eggs in a bowl. If you want your eggs to be a darker shade, cover them with the dye and let them stand overnight in the refrigerator.

Decorations:

Use small leaves from fresh or dried herbs like flat parsley, rue, thyme or fern. Press the leaves against the egg and wrap securely with a section of old nylon stocking. Do this before putting in the dye bath. After dyeing, rinse these eggs in clear water before unwrapping.The area under the leaves will have little or no dye if done properly.

Glue dried, pressed flowers, sequins, crepe paper, or similar flat decorations to the eggs. Use your imagination.

Create designs with markers, stickers, paints. NOTE: Drawing designs with crayons won't work here as the waxy crayons will melt off in the boiling process.

Sunday Surprise – Honey/Hive Product Cosmetics

Spring is coming! And hard on the heels of Spring, is Summer. Folks are now starting to think about getting out the warm weather clothes…The ones that show a bit more skin. Skin that tends to get dry & ignored throughout the cold winter months. So with that in mind, her are some recipes to help you get your skin – and hair for that matter – ready for Summer showing off. These all use either Honey or Beeswax, along with other natural ingredients. Have fun! Materials needed, other than hive products, are readily available at drug stores and health stores.

Honey Hand Lotion

• ½ cup Vaseline petroleum jelly
• 2 tablespoons honey
• 3 tablespoons glycerin
• 1 tablespoon liquid lecithin

Melt the petroleum jelly over a double boiler. Add the remaining Ingredients and heat for several minutes until the mixture is smooth and well mixed,
Makes about ¾ cup. 

Honey-Rosewater Hand Lotion

•   1 tablespoon Irish moss
• ¼ cup rosewater
• ¼ cup honey
• ½ cup water
• 1/3 cup glycerin

Combine the water and Irish moss, and simmer over low heat until the mixture is thick, about 10 minutes. Strain the mixture to remove the Irish moss. Combine the strained liquid with the remaining ingredients.
Makes about one cup.

Beeswax Hand Cream 

•   ¼ cup beeswax
• ¼ cup almond oil
• ¼ cup honey
• 1 tablespoon bee pollen
• ¼ cup Vaseline petroleum jelly
• ¼ cup glycerin
• 2 tablespoons liquid lecithin

Melt the beeswax and petroleum jelly together over a double boiler. Add the remaining ingredients and heat for 4 to 5 minutes until the mixture is smooth and heated. Pour into a container while still hot since it will   harden as it cools. Makes about 1¼ cups.

Beeswax Coconut Hand Cream 

• ¼ cup beeswax
• 3 tablespoons baby oil
• ¼ cup coconut oil
• 1/3 cup glycerin
• Melt the beeswax. and coconut oil over a double boiler.

Add the remaining  ingredients and heat until mixture is smooth, for about 4 to 5 minutes. Pour  into a container while still hot since it will harden as it cools.
Makes   about 1 cup.

Bee Pollen Hand Cream 

• 1/2 cup petroleum Jelly
• 1/2 Cup glycerin
• 1/3 cup beeswax
• 2 tablespoons bee pollen

Melt the petroleum jelly and beeswax over a double boiler.Add the glycerin   and heat for several minutes until the mixture is smooth and well heated. Add the bee pollen and pour into a container while still hot since the mixture does harden as it cools.
Makes about 1¼ cups. 

Beeswax Cold Cream 

• 1/3 cup beeswax
• ¼ cup glycerin
• 1 tablespoon liquid lecithin
• ¼ cup baby oil
• ¼ cup almond oil
• 1 tablespoon bee pollen

Melt the beeswax over a double boiler. Add the remaining ingredients and heat for several minutes until well mixed. Pour into containers while still hot since it will harden as it cools.
Makes about 1½ cups.

Honey Cold Cream for Dry Skin

• 1/4 cup honey
• 1/4 cup vegetable shortening
• 1 tablespoon ground almonds
• 1 teaspoon liquid lecithin
• 2 tablespoons bee pollen
• 1 egg yolk, at room temperature
• 1 teaspoon rosewater or cologne water

Combine all ingredients and mix well. This cream has a slightly grainy and oily texture, and in addition to using as a cold cream, it can be used for sunburn and for applying as a conditioner to the hands before doing outside work, such as gardening.

Makes about ¾ cup.

Beeswax-Almond Hand Cream 

• ¼ cup beeswax
• ½ cup almond oil
• ½ cup coconut oil
• ¼ cup rosewater

Melt the beeswax and coconut oil over a double boiler. Add the
remaining ingredients and heat until well mixed, several minutes. Pour into a container while still hot since it does harden as it cools.
Makes about 1½ cup.

  Honey Cleansing Cream 

• ¼ cup honey
• 1 tablespoon liquid soap
• ½ cup glycerin

Place the ingredients in a screw top jar, cover and shake well.
Makes about 3/4 cup.

Honey Cleansing Lotion 

• ½ cup hot water
• 1 tablespoon bee pollen
• 1½ teaspoons unflavored gelatin
• ¼ cup honey

Soften the gelatin in the water for several minutes. Then dissolve the gelatin mixture over low heat for 5 to 7 minutes, until the mixture is clear.. Add the remaining ingredients. Makes about 1 cup.

Honey-Rosewater Cleansing Lotion 

• 1/4 cup honey
• 1 tablespoon bee pollen
• ¼ cup rosewater
• 2 teaspoons liquid soap

Combine the ingredients in a screw top jar. Cover and shake well.
Makes about ½ cup.

Honey-Oatmeal Face Mask

• 3 tablespoons honey
• ¼ cup oatmeal, ground fine
• 1 tablespoon bee pollen
• 1 tablespoon beaten egg, buttermilk, heavy cream or sour cream, optional

Combine the ingredients and mix until smooth. Apply to the freshly washed face, and let set on the skin for 10 to 15 minutes. Rinse off.
Makes enough for 1 application. 
 

Honey-Avocado Face Mask 

• 2 tablespoons honey
• 2 tablespoons dry buttermilk powder
• ¼ avocado, medium size, mashed

Combine the ingredients and stir until smooth. Cucumber puree may be substituted for the avocado, using ¼ cup puree. Avocado is good for dry skin, while cucumber is better for oily skin. Makes enough for 1    application. 
 

Honey Protein Face Mask 

• 1 tablespoon honey
• ½ teaspoon lemon juice or cider vinegar 
  1 tablespoon bee pollen
• ½ teaspoon wheat germ oil or glycerin
• 1 egg white, at room temperature (1 small whole egg may be substituted) 

Combine the honey, pollen, and lemon juice. Mix well until the honey  softens. Add the remaining ingredients. 
Makes enough for 1 application.

Honey Face Mask for Oily Skin 

• 4 tablespoons honey
• ¼ cup finely chopped parsley

Combine the ingredients and stir until smooth.
Makes enough for 1   application.

Honey Face Scrub 

• 2 tablespoons bee pollen
• 1/2 cup honey
• 1 tablespoon liquid lecithin
• ¼ cup each of almonds, walnuts,   oatmeal, whole wheat flour, corn meal
• 1 tablespoon rose water
• ¼ cup water

Combine all the dry ingredients. Add the honey, rose water, and liquid lecithin. Stir until smooth, and add in enough of the water to make a smooth paste.
Makes about 2 cups. 

Honey Hand Cleanser 

• 2 tablespoons honey
• 1 tablespoon liquid soap
• 1/4 cup almond or walnut oil

Combine the ingredients and mix until smooth.
Makes about 1/3 cup.

Soapless Hand Cleanser 

• 2 tablespoons honey
• 2 tablespoons vegetable oil
• 1 tablespoon oatmeal or ground almonds
• 1 tablespoon glycerin
• 2 tablespoons witch hazel

Combine the ingredients and mix until smooth. This may be used to remove dirt from the hands and fingernails, and is less drying on the skin than soap and water.
Makes enough for 1 application. 

Beeswax Lip Balm 

• 2 tablespoons beeswax
• 1 tablespoon coconut oil

Melt the ingredients over a double boiler. Pour into container
while still hot since it will harden as it cools.
Makes about 1/4 cup.

Honey Egg Shampoo 

• 1/4 cup honey
• 2 tablespoons liquid soap
• 2 tablespoons water
• 1 tablespoon witch hazel
• 1 large egg, at room temperature
• 1 tablespoon wheat germ oil or almond oil
• 1 tablespoon rosewater or cologne

Place all the ingredients in a screw top jar, cover and shake well.
Makes about 2/3 cup

Honey-Pollen Shampoo 

• 1/4 cup honey
• 1/2 cup glycerin.
• 1 tablespoon witch hazel
• 1/4 cup orange flower water or cologne
• 2 tablespoons bee pollen
• 1 teaspoon liquid soap
• 1 tablespoon alcohol

Place the ingredients in a screw top jar, cover and shake well.
Makes about 1¼ cups.

Honey-Milk Conditioner For Oily Hair 

• 1/3 cup hot water
• ¼ cup glycerin
• 2 tablespoons liquid lecithin
• 1/4 cup Sage
• 1/4 cup honey
• 2 tablespoons dry buttermilk powder

Combine the hot water and sage, and let set for 10 minutes. Strain the liquid, and discard the sage. Add the remaining Ingredients to the strained liquid, and mix well. Apply to freshly shampooed hair, let sit on hair for about 2 minutes and rinse off with warm water.
Makes about 1/2 cup.

Honey Herbal Hair Conditioner 

• 1/4 cup honey
• 1/4 cup glycerin
• 1/4 cup sage
• 1/2 cup dried chamomile flowers  or cup nettle leaves
• 1/4 cup rosemary leaves
• 1/2 cup witch hazel
• 1 tablespoon liquid lecithin

Place all the ingredients in a screw top jar. Shake well and let
sit for 1 hour. Strain to remove herbs, discard the herbs and pour the liquid back   into the jar.
Makes about 1/2 cup.

Honey Treatment for Very Dry Damaged Hair 

• 3 tablespoons honey
• 1 tablespoon olive oil

Stir for a minute or so until the mixture is smooth. Apply to
freshly shampooed hair, and let soak in for 10-12 minutes. Rinse off with warm water.
Makes enough for 1 application. 

Blond Hair Highlighter 

• 1/2 cup water
• 1/4 cup honey
• 1 tablespoon Irish moss
• 1/4 Cup molasses

Soak the Irish moss in the water for 5 minutes. Then simmer for several minutes over low heat until the mixture is thick. Add the remaining ingredients. Apply to freshly shampooed hair and let soak for 3-5 minutes. Then rinse off with warm water.
Makes about 1 cup, enough for two applications.

Saturday Something – The Four Planes

The Four Planes

To get successful results from magic, work must be done upon all four of the planes. In ascending order, these are the physical plane, the emotional plane, the mental plane,  and the spiritual plane.
The Physical Plane:
It is suggested you work with a structure which is similar to a four-story house when practicing magic. Imagine that the ground floor represents the physical plane. This floor contains  a number of rooms, each representing a particular magical technique appropriate to this plane. This is a room where oils are blended and poured, a room where candles are molded and consecrated, a room where waters are created, a room where powders and incense are compounded, and a room where crystals are cleansed and charged with energy. Each of
these rooms is dedicated to a particular element, so that as you work with these physical tools you learn about the four elements and their correspondence to the various facets
within your character.
There is a kitchen with a large hearth; this is your lab. And there is an herb garden just outside the kitchen. There is also a storage room which contains supplies of magical tools.  As a novice, you will, of necessity, spend more time obtaining supplies for magical practice than in creating the supplies themselves. Later, when you are more experienced, you may
decide to specialize in the creation of one or more magical tools. Finally, there is a small room which serves as a temple where, after all your preparations, you may practice your Magic. There are 2 important reasons to practice magic on the physical level.
First: physical materials such as herbs and incense stimulate your senses, which in turn activate certain areas of your psyche and create an emotional state in you conducive to
the practice of magic. Second: the use of physical materials grounds energies generated on the higher planes so that you obtain tangible results from your magical operations.

The Emotional Plane
According to Nancy Watson, this is the second floor of the house. It also contains several rooms. There is a quiet room where you can daydream and visualize what it is you want to achieve. There are studios where you can experiment with music, dance, or the visual arts to see what effect these have upon your emotional state. And there are a variety of therapy rooms available so that you may release the emotional stresses which are the primary cause of physical illness and pain. The emotional plane plays a pivotal role in magic. Desire to achieve a goal urges you to move up on level to the mental plane where you can plan your magical operations for optimal results.

The Mental Plane
The third floor is a symbol of the mental plane. This story is a vast library, with books of knowledge on all subjects, not just metaphysics and magic. There are chairs and couches so that you can mull over your goals and plans in comfort. There are writing desks, where you can create affirmations and incantations. The only sound tolerated here is the muffled shuffle of cards and the click of runes or coins as oracles are consulted.  The analysis and planning you do on this level are critical to the safe achievement of your goals through your practice of magic.

The Spiritual Plane:
The fourth and top floor represents the spiritual plane. This is a large and lovely room, filled with works of art of all that has ever been held sacred on Earth. There is a beautiful brazier, containing the fire of purification and creativity. The roof opens, like the dome of an observatory, on clear starry nights. A spiral ladder climbs to the open sky so that you may without hindrance observe the stars, offer prayers, and receive the influx of divine inspiration. It is a generally quiet plane, except for those times when chants and music are heard. the work you do on the spiritual level affects all lower levels, and gives depth and permanence to your magical operations.

These four planes comprise the formal architecture of magic.

Cellar:
The cellar is a dark and labyrinthine place. It contains all your instincts and personal memories. It also contains those feelings, thoughts, and urges you choose to deny or ignore.
Your sanity and the quality and quantity of your energy depend on this, for what goes on in the cellar will eventually affect, for good or ill, the emotional plane. The cellar is otherwise known as your personal unconscious. if you wish to practice magic safely, you must have a deep knowledge of what is going on in your personal unconscious.

Timing: At the Waxing moon.
Be sure to  gather things you need for the second part of the Ritual/Spell when making your preparations. 

Needs:

• A vial (about 100 ml) of water from a steadily flowing river, rain water, (bottled mineral water or sea water will work, but shouldn’t be first choice)
• Two blue candles
• Two white candles
• A candle in the color you feel best represents yourself
• A grey candle
• A black candle
• An orange candle
• Freshly picked lavender
• Crushed leaves & petals of a white rose
• Sage (optional)
• Blessed salt (optional)
• Blessed water (optional)

Before you begin sweep or vacuum the floor and generally clean the room you will be performing the ritual in. Remember, you’re creating Sacred Space.

Light the blue candles and place at the north and south points of a circle cast in your main living room. Light the white candles and place at the east and west points of the same circle. Scatter the lavender and rose evenly around the perimeter of the circle and sit within it, facing the north point. Cross your arms loosely over your chest and focus your awareness on the breath entering your body and slowly spreading through it. Return your focus slowly to your environment and extinguish the candles using the river water, kneeling before each as you do so, in the order north-west-east-south.

Light the candle that represents yourself and say:

'This is me, me in all things'.

Light the black candle and say:

'This is all the bad luck that has dragged my footsteps.
Trouble, disappointments and tears are here.
This bad luck now leaves me forever'.

Light the grey candle and say:

'All that was bad is neutralized.
All my bad luck is dissolved'.

Light the orange candle and say:

'This is the energy coming my way,
To get my life moving
And speed up the change'.

Sit quietly for a while and visualize the negative energies being whisked into the grey candle and dissolved into empty nothingness. Visualize the orange candle drawing good energy and good luck towards you, see the air stirring about with possibilities and opportunities. Let the candles burn down completely (take the usual safety precautions). Now close your circle.

You may like to "smudge" each room with by burning sage In a small bundle. You could  also sprinkle blessed and consecrated salt and water in each room of the house as you say a blessing and prayer asking for a happy life and good luck in your new dwelling.

This is a spell for love gone wrong, for ending a personal, family or business relationship that you no longer wish to be in. It is a fire spell. To work it, gather herbs of protection and an image of the person (photograph, poppet, etc.) -Something written in their own  hand, a lock of hair, a piece of clothing or a personal object will also do. Put everything into a fireproof container - iron cauldron, marble mortar, whatever - and set fire to it as you perform the spell. It should make a very satisfactory blaze that reduces to ashes. The ashes can be buried or washed down a drain. Flush them down a toilet if you are very angry. Dispose of all the objects that connect you to the person: gifts, letters, photographs, etc.  It is especially important to get rid of jewelry. Move house if you have to. Be careful with this spell.  It's permanent, so don't use it unless you really mean forever. It's also powerful.

Since spring is nigh – really, it is! Just ‘cuz we have a foot of snow doesn’t mean it isn’t coming! – I figured this would be fairly appropriate, since the birds will soon be returning to the now colder climes :)

* When you hear a cuckoo for the first time in the year, quote aloud:

"Cuckoo, Cuckoo, answer me true
This question that I'm asking you;
I beg that truly you'll tell me
In how many years I'll be married."

The number of times which the cuckoo replies is declared to represents the number of years that will elapse before you marry.

*A bird that flies into a house, foretells an important message. The white bird foretells death, and a Blue Jay spends Fridays with the Devil, telling on us.

* A bird call from the north means tragedy; from the south is good for crops; from the west is good luck; from the east, good love.

* Storks deliver babies. Storks were sacred to Venus in Roman mythology. If a stork builds a nest on your roof, you have received a blessing and a promise of never ending love from Venus. Aristotle made killing a stork a crime, and Romans passed a stork law, saying that children must care for their elderly parents.

* A wish made on the first robin of spring will be granted.

* A peacock feather has an evil eye at the end. Argus, the Greek legend, says a hundred eyed monster was turned into a peacock with all it's eyes in it's tail.

* It is regarded as lucky if a bird flying overhead makes a mess on you. (The big blue bird of happiness shitting all over you..? LOL)

* Hearing a cuckoo calling after the end of July is a bad omen.

* Killing a robin or a sea gull is also very unlucky.

* If rooks build a nest near your house, it is thought to bring luck. Likewise, to have a swallow's nest under your eaves is very lucky.

* If the Robin sings in the bush,
The weather will be coarse.
If the Robin sings on the barn,
The weather will be warm.

* If a swallow doth build upon your thatch,
Then the hand of good is upon the latch!

Tuesday Try A New Taste – Chicken Barley Stew With Herbs

Yes, I know Beltane is fast approaching, and Spring is on the way. But I am looking at my window at the new 2” of snow that’s falling as we speak. erm….type. Spring may be on the way, but Winter has yet to even consider allowing her access! So, with that in mind, and  since I think stew is one of the best cold weather foods ever created, here is today’s recipe..

* Chicken Barley Stew With Herbs *

Comment: This is originally an Anglo-Saxon recipe. The original calls for rabbit, but chicken is just as good.

Ingredients:

• 2-3 lb chicken breasts on the bone
• 2 Tbsp butter
• 1 lb leeks (3-4 large ones, 4-5 little ones) thickly cut. May substitute onions
• 4 cloves garlic, chopped fine
• 6 oz barley
• 3 Tbsp red wine vinegar
• 3 3/4 cups water
• 2 bay leaves
• 1 Tbsp dried sage

In a large dutch oven, melt the butter, then sauté`e the leeks and garlic in the butter. Add the chicken and brown. Add remaining ingredients, reserving the sage. Bring to a boil, then reduce and simmer for 1 to 1-1/2 hours. Remove chicken from pot and let cool. Remove meat from bones and add back to the pot. Add sage. Stir well and serve. Leftovers freeze well. Serves 8.

And what is stew without bread..?

* Irish Soda Bread *

Ingredients:

• 1 1/2 cups All-purpose flour -- unbleached, enriched
• 1 1/2 cups Whole wheat flour -- stone-ground
• 1/4 teaspoon Kosher salt
• 1/2 teaspoon Baking soda
• 1 1/4 cups Buttermilk

Set the baking rack in the center of the oven and place a baking stone (if available) on the rack. Preheat the oven to 375. In a mixing bowl, combine the dry ingredients. Combine thoroughly. Make a well in the center of the dry ingredients and add the buttermilk. Mix quickly to blend the milk evenly. It may be easier to mix with the hands than with a spoon. Form the dough into a loaf shape and place in a nonstick 8 1/2-x 4 1/2 x 2 1/2" loaf pan. Place in the preheated oven and bake for 50-55 minutes, until well browned and a skewer inserted in the center comes out dry. Remove from the oven and the baking pan. Place on a wire rack to cool.

Monday Make A – Candles for Witches and Bride Bed for Witchlets

Imbolc is often called Candlemas and is a festival of returning light. In some traditions of Witchcraft, candles are made on this date that will be used for ritual during the rest of the year. If you are interested in making your own hand-dipped candles, here are instructions: You need to obtain the following supplies:

• 2 - 4 pounds of Paraffin Wax (the kind used in canning) or beeswax (which is usually expensive).
• Candle wick (available at most hobby and craft stores)
• oils and herbs
• candle dye or crayons (but make sure they are the non-asbestos ones)
• wax paper
• a wooden spoon
• a double broiler.

Begin by melting the wax in a double broiler. If you don't have one, you can use a large pot filled half full of water and a large coffee tin with the wax in it, sitting inside the pot. Heat the water to boiling first and cut up your wax so it will melt quickly. Once the water is boiling, turn the heat down and place the tin of wax inside of it. Keep the water hot enough to keep the wax melted but not so hot that the paraffin catches fire (which it has been known to do over high heat). While the wax to melting, stir with a wooden spoon (never use metal) & make sure it all is completely melted.
Also, while the wax is melting, mix the herbs (if more than one) in a small bowl. After the wax is completely melted and been checked, break the crayons up and put them into the wax. Keep stirring until all of the crayons have melted and the color is even and smooth, with no streaks. Keep in mind that the candle will be a shade or so lighter when dry. The more crayons – the deeper and richer the color, so experiment. Next, add the herbs to the wax. Stir with the wooden spoon until it is thoroughly mixed. Next, add 10 – 20 drops of essential oil to the wax until it smells strongly of the fragrance intended. Now your wax is ready. Start with a long piece of wick - twice the size of your desired candle length plus 3 inches (you will be making 2 candles at once). Bend the wick in the middle and hold it by the bend. Dip the wick into the wax and then lift back out. Getting started is the hardest because the wick will float on top of the wax until it has enough wax on it to weigh it down. Allow it to get completely cold between dippings when you first start. After your candle has started to take shape, you can speed up the process a little. I keep a pan of cool water nearby and dip the candles in the water after each dipping in the wax. While this speeds up the process a little, candle making is a slow process but very well worth the time you put into it. Keep dipping the candles and allowing them to cool & then dip again. When you have achieved the proper size, hang them to dry until the wax has set but the candles aren't too hard. Then roll them on the wax paper to smooth out the shape. Once the candle shape is too your liking, dip 1  or 2 more times to make sure your candle is smooth. Trim off any excess wax to make a bottom with a sharp knife. Cut the wick and hang your candles to dry.
You are done!

Materials:

• A Box
• Colored Construction Paper
• White, Yellow, Green, and Red Tissue Paper
• White Flowers or Cotton Balls
• Glue
• Paint Brush
• Crayons
• Scissors
• Glitter

This is a great little activity for the smaller children in the household, and they too can boast of helping with your altar decor. Paint one side of the box at a time with a bit of glue, not too thick, just enough to adhere green tissue paper. Cover the entire outside of the box with the green tissue paper. Cut a 2" wide strip of colored construction paper the length of the sheet (11"/14"). Let the child draw symbols and pictures that reminds them of Spring, the Goddess, brides, and weddings on the strip. Cut the white and yellow tissue paper into 2" diameter circles. While you are doing this, allow the child to draw pictures and symbols on the box with glue, and sprinkle with glitter. Place finger in the middle of a tissue square and draw up tissue around finger. Give a slight twist to crinkle paper into a flower shape. Remove finger and adhere to box and decorated construction paper strip with a dab of glue. Remember to leave about 1-1/2 inches on each end of strip. Attach these ends to the inside of the box with some glue. Let dry. Fill with white flowers or cotton balls. Tell story to children of how the Maiden is a Bride and that the Earth is her Bride's Bed.

Here are the things you need:

• 3 white candles(to add to your spiritual strength)
• 1 pink ( to add to your general success)
• 1 yellow ( to instill confidence)
• 1 green ( for money, luck financial success)
• 1 purple ( to give ambition, and to promote business progress)
• 1 black ( to soak up the negative energies)
• Oils, either success oil (if you have it) or Frankincense oil, your choice really.
• Incense: frankincense, or myrrh( again your choice)

Carve into each candle a pentagram  Anoint the candles. Write on a piece of parchment paper what you desire and if you know the name of the person that would do the interview write their name on the paper. If you don't have the name of the person interviewing you, write down the company name. Then write down these words, for Power, Skill and Fame

Helimaz
Feridox
Solodar.

Now meditate and say this ritual:

Daily desire in myself grows
To have (name what it is you desire) in my life show.
Soon this reality I will know.
What I am seeking will seek me
I have the power to see it through
So my desire to ( name desire) will come to me
Energy flowing giving added strength to me
Success in my desires growing steadily
(name desire) is realized quickly
(name desire) coming to the fore
(name desire) to have forevermore.

Sit and meditate on what you want, Repeat this ritual for 9 days.
This ritual needs to be done at night. At the end of the 9 days, burn the paper over the green candle.

Thursday This Is Your Spell - Spell For Depression

Needs:

• 3 black candles
• 3 white candles
• cedar chips
• rose petals
• catnip
• cinnamon

Go outside, somewhere where you can feel the air, and open a circle. Kneel in the middle of the circle facing east. Place the candles in a semi-circle in front of you, and light each one. On a fire proof plate, start a small fire of cedar chops. Sprinkle the rose petals, catnip and cinnamon in the fire while saying:

Earth and Fire, Water and Air
Hear my prayer, Hear my prayer
Take this depression, Take it away
Give me the strength To face a new day.

When the fire dies down, splash a little blessed water on the fire. Take the wet ashes and throw them as far from you as you can and say:

With these ashes go my pain,
From the healing fires,
New strength regained.

Thank the elements for hearing you, and close the circle.

Sunday Surprise - The Lost Heritage Of The Elder Races.

Our kind is not the first to live on the green earth, and it shall not be the last. There have been civilizations of which we have no knowledge which have vanished with hardly a trace. In time, we shall follow them, for we are related to more than merely those of humankind. The legends of the Old Religion say that "Single is the race of Gods and men, and from a single source we both draw breath." The Gods are our kin; so also are the Elder Ones - for at length it becomes impossible to separate one from the other. It is given to each race to have this world for a while - to learn and to progress upward toward a finer plane; then, when sufficient development and sufficient wisdom is attained, to depart for another realm of existence, leaving behind their lands and works for a newer, less-developed people to try to understand and attempt to use. We do not know how many earlier races there have been, only that some were non-human and pre-human. Ancient lore speaks of the Tuatha de Damnu, the Tuatha de Danaan, and those whom we call Elven or Faery.

The worlds to which the Elder races ascend are superior in every way to this world of ours. They are places of beauty, of Magic, of mystery, of brilliant and joyous color. Life goes on there, and all manner of normal events, though on a higher level of existence. Death also exists, though its meanings and imports are not so dread as here - being merely an intermediate change in lives, throughout which consciousness and memory is retained. All of the arts and sciences, love, and even love-making are far more compelling and enthralling in those far regions.

Transition to the Otherworlds is made by Magic of the mind. The one making it becomes insubstantial, invisible, then vanishes altogether from the perception of the earthbound. Returns are possible, but become less and less likely. This Magic method is said to be known to the highest adepts of the Craft. The method for this transition, however, generally must be sought out and gained by the individuals, for it involves not just surface knowledge, but a deep understanding within the very depths of the soul. It cannot fully be written, and is not easily passed between people by any normal means.

One seeking this manner of transformation is advised to study the lore of the Elven Folk, who are perhaps the closest to us and of whom some knowledge yet remains. The ways are of moonlight and forest, silent meadows and mists, of candles and firelight, and the Magic of being "between the worlds." Myth and legend have the keys, and the practice of spells and Magics will condition the mind and the body for the change.

Friday Form A Circle – A Ritual for Two

Preparation: Decorate the Circle with buds of flowers, if available. All element candles and other candles around the circle should be white. Ring the Circle with small white candles. Place the cauldron and three large white candles on the altar, ringed with new greenery. Each person should have a small, unlit white taper (3 inch) and a slip of paper with the words to the songs as he or she enters the circle. Because this is the festival when the ewes begin producing milk for the newborn lambs, use milk or a beverage like Irish Crème Liquor in the chalice.

The Ritual: Priestess invokes the elements. She moves deosil to the North (Earth) quarter and says:

"Spirits of the empty fields, waiting silently
under a blanket of snow, join us in greeting our lady bright."

The Priestess then moves to the East (Air) quarter and says:

"Spirits of the warming winds, blowing ever
stronger from the south, join us in greeting our lady bright."

The Priestess then moves to the South (Fire) quarter and says:

"Spirits of the shining flame, burning in the
infant Sun, join us in greeting our lady bright."

The Priestess moves to the West (Water) quarter and says:

"Spirits of the forest streams, breaking free
from your prison of ice, join us in greeting our lady bright."

Priestess returns to the altar and lights the first altar candle,, and says:

"Bridgit, lady of fire, of hearth and forge,
we welcome your return."

Priestess lights the second altar candle and says:

"Bride, lady of healing, of peace and joy,
we welcome your return."

Priestess lights the third altar candle and says:

"Bri'id, lady of inspiration, of vision and poetry,
we welcome your return."

Priestess raises hands in invocation and says:

"Bri'id returns from her winter sleep,
Warm Spring follows in her steps.
Soon the trees are green again,
Soon the flowers bloom.
We welcome back our Lady Bri'id
And every house makes room."

Companion says:

"Bri'id is come! Bri'id is welcome!"

The Priestess says:

"She lays aside her cloak of death
And wakes the world with her sweet breath."

Companion says:

"Bri'id is come! Bri'id is welcome!"

The Priestess says:

"And in the dark and frozen lands
We joyfully greet the newborn lambs."

Companion says:

"Bri'id is come! Bri'id is welcome!"

The Priestess says:

"And grateful for this sign of life
We gather here by candlelight."

Companion says:

"Bri'id is come! Bri'id is welcome!"

The Priestess says:

"And in the depths of winter's blight
We welcome Bri'id, our Lady Bright."

Companion says:

"Bri'id is come! Bri'id is welcome!"

The Priestess says:

"And all her bards will form a ring
And to their Lady Bri'id they sing:"

Companion says:

"Bri'id is come! Bri'id is welcome!"

The Priestess takes her candle and lights it from the first alter candle. She says:

"Fire of Bridgit, keep us warm through the
year and fill our home with love."

The Priestess holds her candle in the flame of the second altar candle. She says:

"Fire of Bride, burn away our illnesses
and fill our hearts with joy."

The Priestess holds her candle in the flame of the third altar candle. She says:

"Fire of Bri'id, shine as our guide
and fill our souls with song."

The Priestess turns to her companion in the circle and lights their candle from her own. She says:

"Bridgit of shining fire,
Lady of flickering flame,
Grant us our heart's desire,
Be with us, we call your name!"

The Priestess' companion hold her/his candle to hers. The companion says:

"Bridgit of shining fire,
Lady of flickering flame,
Grant us our heart's desire,
Be with us, we call your name!"

The companion then lights the candles around the circle, deosil while saying:

"Bri'id is come! Bri'id is welcome!"

When the companion returns to the alter the Priestess and her companion place their candles upon the altar. Together they repeat aloud the following:

"Bridgit of shining fire,
Grant us our heart's desire,
Be with us, we call your name!"

The Priestess takes up the chalice holding it skyward and says:

"Bridgit, Bride, Bri'id,
We welcome you into our home and our hearts.
Shine brightly for us, Lady of Fire,
That we may always feel your warmth."

The Priestess drinks from the chalice while her companion says:

"Bridgit of shining fire,
Lady of flickering flame,
Grant us our heart's desire,
Be with us, we call your name!"

The Priestess passes the chalice to her companion who drinks from it while the Priestess says:

"Bridgit of shining fire,
Lady of flickering flame,
Grant us our heart's desire,
Be with us, we call your name!"

Replace the chalice on the altar. The Priestess thanks the elements (moving widdershins beginning with the West) and says:

"Rejoice, oh spirits of the Stream:
Bri'id is come! You soon flow free!
Spirits of the infant Sun,
Rejoice! Your Lady Bri'id is come!
Spirits of the warming Air,
Rejoice! Your Lady Bri'id is here!
Rejoice oh spirits of the Earth!
Bri'id is here! You soon give birth!"

The Priestess returns to the altar and raises hands in benediction. She says:

"Lady Bri'id, we welcome you into the world once again!
Our Circle is open. Let the feasting begin!"

The companion lifts hands skyward and says:
