Tuesday Try A New Taste - Non-Alcoholic Mead

I have no idea where I acquired this. If I had to guess, I'd say it was saved for Hunny...but as Summer is here, it seems appropriate...

Non-Alcoholic Mead

Try to keep this chilled. While honey does not spoil, the apple juice will, either that or start to ferment, and the whole point was to NOT get liquored up. So here goes....
This is the medieval recipe (and not so ancient) for Hydromel

7 ounces apple juice
14 ounces honey
21 ounces water

Mix all the ingredients together in a pan. Bring to a boil and simmer for 30 minutes. Leave to cool and strain into a jug and refrigerate before serving. You can add cloves, cinnamon, orange slices to make a spicier drink. Ginger and Herbs for a more soothing tonic. Fruit juices for a refreshing day at the oasis. Mint for a lively social cocktail. Or straight for a nice relaxing sipping drink at the end of the day. And the kids can feel all grown up while imbibing along with you. Makes a real nice replacement for wine or mead at ritual as well.

Intersting Recipe, I have never seen an alcohol-free mead recipe before. I have just got to try it and see how it tastes.
