If you do find a group, be sure to use good common sense in meeting them and in joining them. Not all people who use the term Pagan or Witch or Wiccan are nice and kind. In fact, Paganism has gotten large enough so that indeed there are a number of absolute a**holes and even psychopaths among us. So be careful, please. :-)
If you can't find a real life teacher, then look for information in the written word. I don't like How-To books particularly, especially the ones on Witchcraft. Most of them dumb everything down to the point of bland-simpleness and make it sound like all you need to be a successful Witch is to own the right tools and do spellwork like baking cookies with a set recipe. Better books are often those that are NOT written for a strictly Neo-Pagan audience... These are a few of the ones that were recommend as starters:
